Dialogical Performance & Minigig/Performance
«A dialogue about montage and a montaged dialogue»
Ain Bailey and Kerstin Schroedinger will join in a dialogical performance, compiling, editing and sampling bits and pieces of their sonic biographies. This will generate a conversation on montage and mixing, using texts and clips and the record collection at OOR itself, in an attempt to subvert concepts of linearity and straight lives.
«Records‘ status as sacred objects, and record collections as a facet of the self».
(Giles, D. et al.,: The psychological meaning of personal record collections and the impact of
changing technological forms. Journal of Economic Psychology 28, 2007)
Ain Bailey, Minigig/Performance
The performance will be a meditation on disco, death and remixes.
Ain Bailey is a sound artist and dj from London, and currently a 2015 Leverhulme Trust Artist-In-Residence at Birkbeck, University of London. Her electroacoustic compositions utilise field recordings, found sounds and processing, which, in turn, are inspired by ideas and reflections on silence and absence, architectural urban spaces, and feminist activism. Her compositions are created for a variety of forms, including multichannel and mixed media installations, moving image soundtracks, dance and live performance.
